Moving? Redecorating? De-cluttering? Updating?
Don't throw out your used items.
Take your clutter and make it into a mitzvah!
Through our Item Redistribution Program, United Chesed acts as a matchmaker between donor and client to ensure your gently-used, working items find a new home for those in our community who would otherwise be unable to afford them.
Acceptable Items:
✓ Furniture ✓ Appliances ✓ Electronics ✓ Medical items and equipment |
Unacceptable Items:
✗ Mattresses ✗ Clothing ✗ Items that are no longer functioning properly |
How It Works
- Click the button below to access and fill out our form.
- We will circulate an email with a description of your item(s) to our client base of families in need.
- When someone is interested in an item, we will put them directly in touch with you so they may pick up the items from you at a mutually agreed upon time.
Most items are spoken for within a week of the email's circulation.
FAQs
Q: Will I receive an in-kind tax receipt for my donation?
A: No. As United Chesed never takes ownership of the items that are redistributed through the program, we are unable to provide donors with tax receipts.
Q: May I engage in other services to rid myself of these items?
A: Once donors have filled out our form, we ask that they kindly refrain from engaging in other services in order to redistribute their items. Please allow our families a chance to claim the items and if no interest is shown, please inform us that you'll be using another service.
Donors who make use of another service after engaging in ours may not be allowed to make use of our service again in the future.
Q: What if a recipient makes arrangements to pick up an item and never follows through?
A: Please inform us of this immediately. This practice is frowned upon and may result in the their removal from the Item Redistribution recipient list. If this takes place, we will let the next in line know that the item is available to them and have them get in touch with you.
Q: Will my contact information be circulated to the whole Item Redistribution recipient list?
A: No. Donor contact information will only be given to interested recipients.
Q: What if the item(s) I'd like to donate do not fall into the acceptable/unacceptable categories listed above?
